“Permanent makeup artist of the year”

Permanent make up and medical tattooing have been my passion, my craft and my absolute focus for the last 20 years. I completed my first course in South Africa in 1996, when permanent make-up was just becoming popular. Since then, I’ve continued to spend my time focused on learning, teaching and perfecting my skills. I believe that to be one the best permanent make up artists, you have to dedicate yourself to constant learning and also research and development of new techniques.

Through this on going learning, I discovered my second passion which is teaching and lecturing. I have been teaching permanent make-up and medical tattooing for the Finishing Touches Group for 15 years where I now head up the training team, I also teach for some of the best permanent make-up academies in the world. I’ve taught; worked; lectured and learnt in so many countries and the one thing that constantly amazes me, is how much permanent make-up and medical tattooing can change a persons life. It certainly changed mine.

Liberate yourself from your brow pencil. Create more volume and shape in your brow, with the addition of a few expertly placed natural looking micro fine hair strokes. This eyebrow technique is excellent for balancing asymmetrical brows, filling in gaps, or creating fuller looking perfectly shaped brows. The hair strokes are created with a super fine flexible Nano needle, which is the most technologically advanced needle available. It creates the finest of strokes with a minimal amount of skin disturbance.

Ombre / Balayage is a soft graduated shading technique that looks like airbrushed powder under your skin. It gives you a multidimensional finish, that is wonderfully flattering for any brow. This eyebrow technique is perfectly customisable, so you can have anything from the most subtle of brows to the boldest of brows. It’s all about the application technique.

Redefine your brows with a combination of expertly placed hair strokes and soft Ombre shading. Ideal for those clients who prefer a more defined brow, without looking fake or overdone.

The actual process of Microblading involves the use of a manual hand held tool, with a long straight row of very fine needles attached or inserted into the hand tool. This tool is then dipped in the pigment and dragged across the skin, cutting open a shallow groove in the shape of a hair.

Define and line your eyes with a perfectly shaped eyeliner, designed specifically to suit your eye shape. Beginning with a fine crisp line at the inner corner of the eye and widening gradually toward the outer corner.

Let your eyeliner make a statement with a high definition dramatic line of maximum thickness. Please note, thicker eyeliner may require more than 2 treatments.

Make your lashes look thicker and darker with a subtle enhancement in between your lash roots. Great if you are not wanting a visible liner above the lashes.

Give your lips maximum definition, lustre and volume with a full lip colour.  A full lip colour is the perfect solution for poorly defined, or pale lips, that have lost their youthful rosy glow. Using artful shading techniques, the lip contour is redefined and the lip colour enhanced. Fantastic if you no longer want to use lipstick, or if you want a more youthful fuller looking lip look. The treatment can be completed using a colour matched exactly to your favourite lip stick, or following a colour consultation, a new shade can be created specifically for you.

A subtle blush of colour is added to the entire lip, creating the effect of a sheer tint or lip stain. The colour is artfully shaded through out the lip, without an obvious out line on the contour or outer edge of the lip. This is a fabulous look for anyone who usually wears a lip gloss or lip stain, and does not want a strong colour commitment.

This treatment targets the lip contour or vermillion border only, it is best done in a very subtle or natural colour.

Amazingly innovative techniques are used in medical tattooing to diminish, improve and disguise scarring from surgery, injury, trauma and illness. The most sought after treatment being Areola and nipple colour restoration following a mastectomy or breast surgery. Medical tattooing helps you to recover physically as well as psychologically by restoring your self esteem and self confidence.

Badly done permanent make up can cause significant psychological and emotional distress. There are a few methods of removal available on the market, but many often result in scarring.

Salt and Saline removal is possibly the most well known and safest method. During treatment, a salt and saline solution is tattooed into the target area where it begins to gently draw the pigment particles out. This method requires 3-6 visits, spaced 6-8 weeks apart. This is a wonderful alternative to the more aggressive removal methods, however, complete removal of the original procedure is unlikely. Often this method is used to lighten the permanent make-up enough to cover it with something more flattering.

Results vary depending on the state of the skin in the area to be treated. If the original treatment has scarred or damaged the skin in any way, this will lessen the chances successful removal. The depth and method of the original implantation will also effect the results.
